OPW – DODDER CATCHMENT FLOOD RISK ASSESSMENT
The River Dodder is one of Dublin’s best known and most important rivers. It flows from Kippure Mountain through bog land, light forest and agricultural land before entering urban Dublin. The Dodder collects rainwater from a 12,081 hectare (120.8 km2) catchment and discharges to the Liffey Estuary. The River Dodder has a history of flooding and is known as a “flashy” river with a quick response to rainstorms. This is due to its source being in the Dublin Mountains which provides it with a steep gradient and periods of high rainfall.
The OPW are currently undertaking the construction of flood defense projects along the Dodder River in the Ballsbridge area. NVM are currently providing hire noise and vibration monitoring instrumentation and reporting to the OPW on this part of the River Dodder Upgrade and Flood Defense Project.
EPA – WATER LEVEL MONITORING INSTRUMENTATION

GREYSTONES HABOUR WICKLOW
Work has resumed on the €300 million Greystones harbour and marina development in Co Wicklow, with the first of more than 350 new homes expected to be offered for sale by April 2016.
The ambitious project has already seen the former Victorian harbour replaced by a new structure with south and north piers, a 200-berth marina and ongoing work on five new clubhouses for sea scouts, divers, sailors, rowers and anglers.
Also included in the project is a coastguard station, a new town square, a 16-acre public park, a new beach and marine-related shops and leisure facilities.

Capital Dock Dublin
NVM are currently undertaking the collection of baseline noise and vibration data for the proposed Capital Dock Development.
Plans for Capital Dock – one of the largest undeveloped sites in the capital – were submitted by global developers Kennedy Wilson in a joint venture with the National Asset Management Agency (Nama) last week.
Described as a “visionary development” on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin 2, the plans include more than 313,000 square feet of modern office space across three buildings.
An estimated 600 construction jobs are to be created during the build. 204 residential units are also part of the 4.8 acre site blueprints, some of which will be housed in a 19 storey tower.
If it gets the greenlight, the tower will compete with Google’s Montevetro building, the Millennium Tower in Grand Canal Dock and Liberty Hall for reach in Dublin’s skyline.
The proposed development, which is bounded by water on both sides, also includes a new 1.5 acre landscaped public park, a square and “significant retail and leisure offering”.
NVM are currently providing routine servicing and maintance of all Marine Institute Coastal Water level instrumentation. 21 Charlemont Place
NVM are currently providing instrumentation supply, live monitoring and services on the Charlemont Place Development site, the site is located directly adjacent to the LUAS Line Bridge which was completed in 2004 designed in-house by the Railway Procurement Agency. On each canal bank, a concrete frame supports the pair of deep beams that span over the water, with smaller beams and a corrugated deck sitting between the beams.
NVM were given the task to provide a Bridge deck and pier monitoring system that would control Bridge movement during the excavation works in the adjacent site.
Rohan now started demolition of the existing structure that sits on this D2 site at Charlemont Place. A short demolition programme will make way for the immediate construction of a new ultra-modern 35,500 sq.ft. office building, which will be finished to a Grade A International standard in the first half of 2016.
With relatively few office developments under way in Dublin’s central business district despite signs of a shortfall of top-quality space, Rohan Holdings has begun work on a speculative office building overlooking the Grand Canal at Charlemont Place, Dublin 2.
The decision to proceed with the €35 million project will be widely welcomed.
Central Bank Building North Wall
The Central Bank has acquired a relatively new office building close to its planned new headquarters at North Wall Quay in the Dublin docklands. On Wednesday last the ‘keys’ of the old headquarters planned by Anglo Irish Bank on the North Wall Quay were handed over to Walls Construction. This project which will commence on 5/5/15 and take 82 weeks to complete (Nov 2016) will employ 340 construction workers at its peak..
NVM Limited are providing Walls Construction with monitoring instrumentation and services during the construction project ensuring environmental noise and dust levels are monitored on a continuous basis.
The bank was the top bidder at €104 million for Block R on Spencer Dock, which is adjacent to the city’s thriving financial and business district. The bank already occupies just under 50 per cent of the block, which has an overall floor area of 11,798 sq m (127,000 sq ft). It is already paying €3 million for the accommodation, equating to €495 a sq m (€46 a sq ft). For more information on the proposed works view

However, the company has been quietly ramping up its Irish workforce this year, as it seeks to boost non-US business for the company. Ireland hosts the company’s global headquarters for all territories outside the US and Canada.
LinkedIn opened its Irish office in March 2010. But it has accelerated its Irish hiring drive in 2014, increasing its Irish workforce by a third – from 450 to over 600 – in the last eight months.
